Kokodama (more commonly spelled kokedama) translates to "moss ball" in Japanese. It is a traditional Japanese art form where a plant's root ball is wrapped in soil, encased in live or preserved moss, and secured with string or twine. They can be displayed on a flat surface or hung in the air.

Origin: Rooted in ancient Japanese gardening styles like nearai (potless bonsai) and kusamono.
Structure: A compact center sphere of mixed potting soil and clay (like akadama), wrapped tightly with moss and twine.
How to Care for a Kokedama
Watering: Submerge the entire moss ball in water for 5 to 10 minutes once it feels light and dry. Alternatively, drench ball in tray and allow it to soak in water for 10 minutes.
Draining: Let it drip dry for a few minutes before placing it back.
Light: Place the kokedama in indirect or direct light based on the specific type of plant growing inside it.
